Resumo

O presente estudo analisa a dimensão construtiva-experiencial da gerotranscendência em pessoas com mais de 80 anos, contribuindo para a compreensão da subjetividade e do desenvolvimento na velhice. Por meio de uma investigação qualitativa, exploratória e com abordagem fenomenológica, foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com 12 participantes (80–94 anos). A recolha de dados incluiu a aplicação da Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), e o corpus foi submetido a uma análise temática de conteúdo. Os resultados revelaram três percursos distintos: Integridade com gerotranscendência, Integridade sem gerotranscendência e Desespero. A satisfação com a vida apresentou valores mais elevados no percurso de integridade sem gerotranscendência, enquanto a integridade com gerotranscendência associou-se à aceitação da finitude e à reconciliação biográfica. Observou-se que níveis mais elevados de escolaridade se relacionam com maior complexidade reflexiva, ao passo que o desespero está ligado a conflitos biográficos não integrados. Conclui-se que a gerotranscendência é um processo mediado pela capacidade reflexiva do indivíduo. O estudo reforça a importância de estratégias que promovam a integração identitária e a espiritualidade, permitindo a redefinição do sentido da existência na etapa final da vida.
