Resumo

A proteína Gla da matriz (MGP) é uma proteína secretada dependente da vitamina K, inicialmente conhecida pelo seu papel na inibição da calcificação. Foi observada uma expressão elevada de MGP em diversas neoplasias malignas, sugerindo um papel mais abrangente na biologia tumoral. O glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), o tumor cerebral primário mais agressivo, ocorre predominantemente em adultos idosos, evidenciando a necessidade de compreender melhor os mecanismos moleculares associados ao envelhecimento e à progressão tumoral. Neste contexto, biomarcadores como a MGP poderão ter utilidade na estratificação de risco e na orientação clínica de doentes idosos, contribuindo para abordagens mais personalizadas e alinhadas com o envelhecimento saudável. Este trabalho teve como objetivo realizar uma revisão bibliográfica sobre o conhecimento existente acerca da MGP no GBM. Foram consultadas as bases de dados científicas PubMed, SCOPUS, B-on, Google Scholar, Web of Science e RCAAP, utilizando as palavras-chave “Matrix Gla Protein” e “Glioblastoma” (em português e inglês). Foram incluídos artigos com acesso livre ao texto completo, tendo sido identificadas nove publicações relevantes que cumpriam os critérios de inclusão, proporcionando uma visão atualizada sobre o papel da MGP no GBM. Os resultados indicam que a MGP está associada à progressão tumoral no GBM, sendo a sua sobre expressão, correlacionada com uma maior capacidade de migração e invasão celular. Apesar dos avanços terapêuticos o prognóstico permanece desfavorável. A integração de biomarcadores como a MGP poderá contribuir para melhorar a abordagem clínica e apoiar o desenvolvimento de estratégias mais eficazes em doentes com GBM.
