Resumo
Este deteve como objetivo caracterizar a aptidão física em adultos 50+ de acordo com a satisfação de vida. Trata-se de um estudo transversal com amostra de conveniência constituída por 79 adultos com mais de 50 anos (média de idade: 71,60 ± 7,26 anos; mulheres: 77,2%). A satisfação de vida, medida através da Escala de Satisfação com a Vida, foi dicotomizada em alta (≥17 pontos; N:32) ou baixa (<17 pontos; N:47). A aptidão física foi medida através do teste Senior Fitness Test (força de membros superiores e inferiores, aptidão cardiorrespiratória, flexibilidade de membros superiores e inferiores e agilidade/equilíbrio). A comparação entre grupos de satisfação de vida foi realizada através do teste- t, qui-quadrado ou testes não-paramétricos, de acordo com a normalidade da distribuição das variáveis. A mediana da satisfação de vida foi de 17 pontos [amplitude interquartil: 14 – 19]. Indivíduos com alta satisfação de vida, comparativamente aos com baixa, apresentaram maior força dos membros inferiores (20,44 ± 2,23 versus 15,13 ± 3,96 repetições, respetivamente; p<0,001) e melhor agilidade/equilíbrio (5,16 [4,82 - 6,21] segundos versus 5,19 segundos [4,83 - 6,22], respetivamente; p=0,004). Programas de exercício físico com o objetivo de desenvolver e ou preservar a aptidão física a partir dos 50 anos devem ser implementados para assegurar melhores indicadores de saúde mental.
